Crystalline structures and colour worlds run throughout the hotel, giving expression to a desire for natural relaxation. The mineral-rich saline is more than just a spatial metaphor, however, if only because the adjacent thermal spa can be reached in a bathrobe and slippers. Bad Rappenau’s graduation house is also within walking distance: a salt extraction facility that enriches the air with salt, and is used as both a recreation area and for respiratory therapies. We translated this context into a design concept in which hard edges blend into soft shapes, supported by colours and materials from nature. In the hotel lobby, fabrics with palpable textures recall the brushwood of the graduation house, whose grey-brown chromaticism and structure reappear in the wallpaper and wall reliefs.

Hotel Saline 1822
Saline 1882 is a hotel that puts health and the healing powers of nature at the centre of its offering. Which is why our interior design picks up on the character of the surrounding traditional spa town of Bad Rappenau with its healing saline springs to create a feel-good place with a particular focus on barrier-free accessibility. Our inclusive interior design includes the lobby, the adjoining Salzwerk restaurant and 132 bedrooms, 60 of which are wheelchair accessible.
Natural forms and colours
Accessibility adds value for all
Accessibility is far more than mere practicality for us. We believe all guests should have access to all rooms – and thus experience appreciation throughout. To achieve this, we use high-quality materials with a special look and feel, which radiate warmth and wellbeing, while taking all individual needs into account. As an example, the seats in the ground-floor showers in the hotel rooms are not, as is so often the case, fold-down plastic seats with all the charm of a medical aid, but instead are solid benches covered with natural stone tiles. Accessible design should be neither a makeshift solution, nor a foreign body – rather, it contributes seamlessly and naturally to a spatial experience that is designed around wellbeing and indulgence for all hotel guests.

Part of a holistic wellbeing offering
Adjacent to the hotel area is our Salzwerk restaurant, where an open-plan bar area invites guests to kick back and relax. The shelves are filled with books and home accessories. They function as room dividers that screen off the restaurant, yet allow guests arriving in the lobby a tantalising, first glimpse of its inviting ambience. A fireplace creates a living room atmosphere in which you feel good – and can naturally access without steps. Business travellers will appreciate the hotel’s flexible conference facilities, which offer meeting space for up to 200 people. Thus events and meetings can be held in a consciously designed, distraction-free environment.
From spa visits to team events: In the Saline 1822 hotel, we have implemented a hospitality concept that puts the diverse needs of guests first. And our interior design responds to each and every one of these needs with accessibility and appreciation.
