The surface texture created by this process is deliberately preserved; only AEVA’s outer faces are sanded. Colour is sprayed onto the exterior like graffiti, with only a sporadic coating reaching the inner recesses. This incomplete coat accentuates the meandering, irregular lines and porous, printed structure of the material.

Side Table AEVA
AEVA is a sculptural occasional table. Its form and materiality draw the eye, turning a background piece into the centrepiece of the room.
The materials and manufacturing behind AEVA are as new and innovative as the Tola Dolza brand itself. Each piece is 3D-printed by additive tectonics in econitWood™, a patented composite of wood processing offcuts held together by a bio-based binder. Additive printing allows shapes and structures that traditional woodworking cannot achieve, and produces zero waste.
A home for objects
The top of the side table gives your latest book, a glass of wine, your mobile devices, a large vase of flowers or a bronze statue a stage of their own within the furniture layout. AEVA works like a piece of micro-architecture in the room.
Tilla Goldberg drew her inspiration from the buildings of Oscar Niemeyer, who often took classical elements and reinterpreted them in a forward-looking way. Internal arcades shape AEVA, so that it resembles the capital of a column.
The creative process also has much in common with the work of a traditional stonemason. After printing, AEVA is stripped of all unused residual material and emerges from the sand-like granulate, much like the desert city edifices of Petra.
The manufacturing partner and innovation leader additive tectonics fuses biological materials with state-of-the-art digital technology to achieve this. AEVA is 3D-printed layer by layer from a blend of regionally sourced sawdust and wood shavings, bound with magnesium and salt water. The result is a completely non-toxic material with a distinctive matt texture and depth. Rough and untreated on the inside, the piece contrasts with polished, open-pored outer surfaces, which colour accentuates further. AEVA makes its debut in the colours plaster, bronze and blackberry pearl.

A promise for eternity
The name derives from the Latin ‘Aevum’, meaning ‘era’ or ‘eternity’. Flame-retardant and built to last, AEVA suits both domestic and commercial settings. Should it eventually reach the end of its lifecycle, it can be ground down and fully recycled into a new 3D-printed object.
Built for the future
AEVA is produced in an industrial 3D printing facility. The process relies on reusable, organic-based material components and leaves no offcuts. In this way, additive tectonics shows how sustainable design and architecture can work. Custom editions can also be produced with ease.
Balancing material innovation, philosophy and design quality, AEVA is a novel, stand-alone piece with real presence. Tilla Goldberg translates classical architectural language into a future-facing form of production and aesthetic. With AEVA, the side table becomes the star of the furniture scene.
