Wittlinger Hahn Stern Radiologie

The appearance and directional guidance of the rooms of the “Wittlinger, Hahn, Stern” radiology practice in Schorndorf was developed in the course of architecturally reorganising the practice’s interior design.

When considering the graphical appearance of the practice, we took our orientation from image production in radiology. Highly-specialised technical equipment generates images of the human body that enable medical diagnoses to be made thanks to their precision in detail and penetration. Layer for layer, the patients are made transparent, x-rayed and scanned. The resulting multi-layered pictorial raster forms the skeletal structure for the graphical appearance we developed. Large-scale, abstract graphics are applied to the walls as central directional guidance points. The practice logo is also derived from this grid of lines. Each of the four treatment areas is encoded via two-tiered door labelling. In the waiting area, a backlit wall displays a blank-and-white cloud formation conveying the pictorial aesthetics of the image reproduction process of medical-technical equipment. This motif is also strongly rastered and continues the basic concept of the graphical appearance on yet another level.
