Ristorante Mezzogiorno

"Giv mi colore!" - Red-brown earth, spring green, faint blue sky in the morning sun. Redesign of the restaurant "Mezzogiorno" in Italian-American-German-Japanese style. The urban, elegantly detailed choreography of this complex interior space with bistro, bar, and dining room creates an adequate atmosphere for refreshing breakfasts, satisfying lunches, and stimulating evenings.

+more-less

The restaurant, situated in a park in downtown Stuttgart, combines a feeling of lushness und joy of life with a sense of being down to earth and a certain robustness. This contrast is mirrored in the combination of warm materials like shell limestone and walnut furniture and cool stainless steel. The Mezzogiorno is divided in three areas: A spacious entrance area with bar divides the bistro from the actual dining room. In the summertime the Mezzogiorno can be extended with a 300m² terrace which connects the restaurant seamlessly into the park. Thanks of a generous glass facade and the colours on the ceiling the border between inside and outside is almost invisible. The colour concept uses warm pastels which remember on a journey through a Tuscan landscape. Beige, Spring Green, Night Blue accentuate the characteristic Folded ceiling of the pavilion, built in the 1960s. The use of light emphasize that impression. Specially design light fixtures along with lamps by Ingo Maurer play with backlit surfaces in the bar and other furniture. The lamps create a second horizon below the folded ceiling. Guests are welcomed inside and, by night, from afar in the park with a 2m high neon writing greeting ‚SALVE'.
