The bathroom, an intimate place
With the continual advance of digitalisation, analogue moments of physical well-being are becoming increasingly important to us all. The bathroom is the place where the day begins and ends. Here we perform our everyday rituals and return to more physical sensations. Serving as a balance to virtual meetings and too much screen time, both professionally and privately, the bathroom offers unmitigated bodily experiences not found elsewhere: the tingle of bath salts, the scent of your favourite shampoo, warm water against your skin. Which is why it was clear to us: NEWNATURE must not only be functional, but also convey this feeling of close physical contact aesthetically. After all, the bathroom is your retreat space, a place for sensuality and relishing your own identity.
Echoes that provide scope for your own associations
NEWNATURE references breath-taking landscapes, natural structures and phenomena that have been subjected to a process of alienation: We zoom in, scale, layer, colour and redraw the motifs. In this way we create echoes, rather than identifiable images; the graphics remain open to personal interpretation. ‘Swarm’ is a motif that depicts the condensing and dissolving of clouds of particles. It is reminiscent of the orderly chaos of a murmuration of starlings or the flickering of iron filings. ‘Wipes’ consists of the traces of large, sweeping movements, embodying a dynamic rhythm, permeated by a lively energy that is captured in the moment. And with ‘Gravity’ we ask the question: Why always stay on the ground? Macro shots of natural stones that are overlaid with scientific images of the surface of Mars bring intense tactility into the space.
Natural products from a closed-loop material cycle
The play of movement and blurring, together with abstract impressions, creates an unusual spatial depth for a printed surface. Furthermore, the ‘Blue Angel’ environmental label-certified surfaces are created in a closed-loop material cycle, and as natural products, are particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. Supplemented by 9 unicolor products, our large-format collection opens up completely new design possibilities for the bathroom: The boards can be laid seamlessly on floors and on walls, and are much easier and less time-consuming to lay than ceramic tiles. They allow for the creation of a homogeneous, immersive space that radiates a new form of naturalness and organic well-being.
