In 1927 an icon of architectural modernism was constructed in Stuttgart: the legendary Weissenhofsiedlung. The Fleiner furniture shop opened at the same time and has remained a flagship of modern, contemporary interior design ever since. In 2014 architare took over this furniture retailer on the Killesberg and ventured a relaunch of this traditional establishment.

Fleiner Möbel by architare invited Ippolito Fleitz Group to communicate the relaunch both inside and out. With meticulous attention to detail, we redesigned product displays for the salesroom and designed a very special window installation. The window has an excellent long-range impact and emanates warmth and happiness out into the square on the Killesberghöhe.

The motto of the installation is ‘spaces filled with love’.

Applied iridescent foil gives the window an almost magical, brightly shining aura. During the day the foil reflects a yellow-orange colour spectrum, while at night it shimmers in a translucent blue-green. This play with transparency is continued in the circular cut-out that provides a clear view of the window display itself.

In the centre of the display stands the Pegasus Home Desk, designed by Tilla Goldberg, Ippolito Fleitz Group for ClassiCon in 2014. It is named after the mythical winged heraldic animal of the classical poets and writers, and is a symbol for the place where everything begins: A small, concentrated workplace where great ideas can unfurl their wings. The Pegasus Home Desk is a sensual piece of furniture, topped by thick leather, under whose folding sides inspirations, concept papers and love letters await the light of day. Digital and analogue tools of all kinds can be stored in the drawer and cable storage.

An oversized quill and accompanying inkwell, both hand-crafted from 300g paper, play on memories of the analogue process of writing. The tip of the quill is plunged in ink and appears to hover over the Ippolito Fleitz Group logo. The poeticism of the analogue and the poeticism of the digital conjoin in the Pegasus Home Desk: Creativity without constraints.

Under the opened right hand-side of the Pegasus your eye alights on a Chinese design magazine with a photo of Peter Ippolito and Gunter Fleitz on the cover. Fittingly, the publication is entitled SPACE.

The large background image symbolises the vibrancy of the team and the diversity and simultaneity of its diverse projects. The core competences of Ippolito Fleitz Group – a multidisciplinary approach, which encompasses all aspects of design from object design to graphics and interior design – are thus brought to life in the smallest space in this window installation.

The backlit ‘spaces filled with love’ motto crowns the display. Five words that get straight to the heart of the philosophy shared by both Ippolito Fleitz Group and Fleiner Möbel by architare.

The goal was to create a window display that has a broad impact to the outside. Using a magic iridescent foil
it emits a bright, beaming aura that reflects, our way
of working.
