400m2 showroom in the headquarters of Bayer MaterialScience in Leverkusen. The TechniKomm is at once an exhibition and an experience space, aimed at business partners, school groups and interested members of the public alike. The ceiling and walls are decked in the best-known and most important polycarbonate made by Bayer MaterialScience: Makrolon®. Backlit surfaces create a bright, shimmering atmosphere to give a technical/futuristic feel to the exhibition.

Industry products from different areas show the diverse applications and technical possibilities for BMS polycarbonates. Projection surfaces and individually operated touchscreens provide a deeper look into technology and details. A surprising high point of the visitor’s experience is when the printed lamellas are opened to reveal the test laboratory behind – a small insight into the original source of the underlying chemical formulas and material experiments, let the visitor take part in current exploratory processes, even if it’s just for a moment. A showroom for polyurethane, the Color Competence Center and a school laboratory have also been set up.
